Other teaching experiences

The Grading Conference

In June 2021 and June 2022 I attended the Higher Ed STEM Grading Conference. The Grading Conference (formerly the "Mastery Grading Conference") is a place where faculty can join together to learn about the grading practices that best support student learning, promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom, and enhance student and faculty classroom experiences.

2016 AIBL Workshop

In June 2016 I am attending the 2016 IBL Workshop sponsored by the Academy of Inquiry Based Learning (AIBL). The focus of the workshop is on helping instructors develop the skills and practices necessary to successfully implement Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) in the college mathematics classroom.

Mathematicians in Mathematics Education Workshop 2013

I attended the 2013 workshop Mathematicians in Mathematics Education, sponsored by the Institute for Mathematics and Education at the University of Arizona. This workshop was aimed at mathematicians who interested in such aspects of mathematics education as standards development, curriculum design, and the preparation and professional development of teachers. Participants learned more about current issues in K-12 education and about how to effectively structure mathematics courses for prospective K-12 teachers.

Project NExT

I am a 2010-2011 Project NExT Fellow (Blue10 Dot). Project NExT is a professional development program for new and recent Ph.D.s in the mathematical sciences run by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Project NExT addresses all aspects of an academic career, from improving the teaching and learning of mathematics, to engaging in scholarship and research, to participating in professional activities. For more information about Project NExT, or to apply to become a Fellow, please see the Project NExT web site.
