Jacobson Radicals, Ring Extensions, and Polynomial Identities

We examine the Jacobson radical of various ring extensions such as skew polynomial rings. Although most of our rings will not satisfy a polynomials identity, the results presented are motivated by a result on Amitsur on polynomial identity rings.
